Darlene Chapman

When Darlene Chapman was born, her Baptist minister father and godly mother knew that God had a plan for her life. At three years of age she began singing and playing the piano in church and continued to do so until she was in her twenties when she suffered the pain and heartbreak of divorce. Her only reaction to her pain was to withdraw from what she knew – the church and her Savior. Her loving father didn’t five up on her, however, and would visit her weekly to ask her to think about coming back to church, but every week, her reply was the same – NO. Soon Darlene’s beloved father fell deathly ill and was placed in ICU where he remained for two weeks with a warning from the doctors that he simply wasn’t going to get any better. Darlene knew that her father couldn’t leave this world knowing that his baby girl wasn’t in the center of God’s will, so, she fell on her knees in the ICU waiting room and proceeded to beg for forgiveness and to ask God to spare her father just long enough to tell him she had rededicated her heart and life to Jesus. The following morning the doctors came into the room and told Darlene that they simply couldn’t explain what had happened, but her father was recovering and would soon be taken off life support. Her father soon recovered and came home to live five more years. God was so gracious to grant Darlene’s prayer and gave her so much more than she asked for. She asked for just a few minutes longer with her Dad and he gave her five wonderful years. Her father has since gone on to be with the Lord, but Darlene will never forget the promises she made God that day, on her knees there at the hospital, and she will always strive to say in the center of His will.
